Questions & Answers

Here I have gathered answers to the questions I am asked most often. If you haven't found yours, just write to me — I will be happy to answer.

Is therapy right for me

Psychotherapy can be helpful not only when it feels like everything is falling apart. People often come to therapy feeling anxious or exhausted, struggling in relationships, inwardly lost — or simply wanting to understand themselves better. If you have long felt that you would like something in your life to change, that alone is reason enough to reach out.

I work with anxiety, emotional burnout, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, codependency, childhood trauma, life crises, guilt and shame, fears, panic attacks, grief and loss, search for identity, personal boundaries, difficulties in one's sexual life and many other concerns. If you are not sure whether your concern fits, just write to me.

No. Some people come with a clear request, others only with a feeling that something is off. Together we can figure out what needs your attention right now.

That is completely normal. Many people come with exactly this feeling: "I just feel bad, but I can't explain why." Together, step by step, we will explore your experiences and look for the reasons behind them.

Yes. Psychotherapy is not only about help in a crisis. It can also be a space for self-discovery, growth, building healthy relationships and improving your quality of life.

Yes. Previous experience of therapy is not an obstacle. On the contrary, it can help us understand what has already been useful for you and what you would like to change.

Yes. I offer couples psychotherapy, psychological counselling for couples, and consultations on sexuality and intimate relationships. We choose the format depending on your request and the needs of the couple. Sessions can be held in Ukrainian, Russian or English. If partners feel more comfortable speaking different languages, a bilingual format is also possible.

Getting started

The first session is about getting to know each other. We will talk about what brought you to therapy, what you expect from our work and what changes you would like to achieve. I will also tell you about my approach and the format of our work, and answer all your questions. You don't need to come with ready answers or a clear plan.

No. There is no need to make a list of problems or deliberately recall every event of your life. It is enough to come just as you are today.

Yes. Sometimes one or a few sessions are enough to understand a situation better, get support or a professional perspective. If you feel the need for deeper work, we can discuss an ongoing psychotherapy format.

Yes. In that case our meetings will be closer to psychological counselling — reducing the intensity of symptoms, getting support or finding an answer to a specific question. For deeper and lasting change, regular and stable sessions matter. They make it possible not only to cope with current difficulties, but also to explore their causes, change habitual patterns and build new ways of relating to yourself and others.

Most often I recommend meeting once a week. This regularity helps sustain the therapeutic process and move gradually towards the changes you want. At the same time, we agree on the frequency individually, depending on your request.

It depends on your goals, your request and the depth of change you are looking for. For some people a few months are enough; working with deeper life patterns may take longer.

This is very individual. Some people notice the first changes after just a few sessions; sometimes it takes longer. Psychotherapy is a process that helps you not only feel temporary relief, but create lasting change.

How therapy works

That happens quite often. Sometimes people stay silent, cry or can't find the words. This, too, is part of therapy. You don't have to be a "convenient client" or hide what you feel.

Yes. There are no forbidden topics in therapy. You can talk about relationships, family, childhood, sexuality, fears, shame, anger, loss or anything else you are living through. And you always decide what you are ready to talk about right now.

My job is not to tell you how to live your life. I help you understand yourself, your needs, feelings and habitual patterns better — and find solutions that truly fit you.

No. It matters to me to create a space where you can talk even about the things that are hard to share with anyone else. In therapy there are no "right" or "wrong" feelings — we will not evaluate them, but try to understand them.

Yes, this happens very often. What first seems to be the main problem sometimes turns out to be just the tip of the iceberg. As we work, your request may change — and that is natural.

Not necessarily. Sometimes I may suggest an exercise, a practice or something to observe between sessions if it serves your request. But it is not a mandatory part of therapy.

Strong emotions, tiredness or a wish to be alone can sometimes come up after a session. This is a natural part of inner work. If anything worries you, we will definitely talk it through.

Yes. Confidentiality is one of the basic principles of my work. Everything that happens in therapy stays between us.

Online format & languages

Yes. Online sessions are a fully-fledged format and are just as effective as meeting in person.

Online sessions are held via video on Google Meet. All you need is a stable internet connection, headphones and a quiet place where you feel comfortable and safe.

I hold sessions in Ukrainian, Russian and English.

Therapy & medication

Yes. Psychotherapy combines well with medication. If you are under the care of a psychiatrist, we can work in parallel.

If I see that a psychiatric consultation could help, I will tell you and explain my recommendation. It does not mean something is "wrong" with you. Sometimes the best results come precisely from combining psychotherapy with medication support.

Payment & practicalities

Payment is made in advance, no later than 24 hours before the session. Your time slot is booked once the payment is received. You can pay for each session separately or for a month at once.

Yes. You can cancel or reschedule a session no later than 24 hours before it starts. If less than 24 hours remain, the session is charged in full. Force-majeure situations can, of course, be discussed individually.

Yes, you can end therapy whenever you choose. I do recommend having a closing session. It helps to sum up the process, notice the changes, complete what matters and end our work together in a healthy way.

Yes. Life changes, and new questions or difficult periods may come up over time. If the need arises, you are always welcome to return.
